Why eating oranges can strengthen your immune system?

Citrus fruits have numerous health benefits but one of the most important at this time is the reinforcement of the immune system, and more so in this year marked by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Low temperatures and winter weather conditions can make us more vulnerable to respiratory infections, allergies, colds, etc. That is why it is important to take foods that contain vitamins that strengthen the defenses, such as oranges.

It is proven that oranges have properties such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium that positively influence our health, but the best known is Vitamin C, since it accumulates in immune cells increasing their ability to cope with microbes and facilitating the creation of antibodies.

The WHO recommends taking between 75mg and 90mg of Vitamin C a day because the body cannot produce it on its own. Oranges have around 80mg depending on their weight, so eating an orange a day we would comply with the WHO recommendations.
